The selfish take!!!

This has been the way of the world – read the Ecclesiastes or John Malton’s poem, Though Art Indeed Just Lord, the selfish and wicked always prosper.

Psychology books have a simple explanation: Selfish people with low intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ), do not care who whose toes they thread on to get to the main prize. They do not study Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, they leave it, jumping some steps.

In government and in the governing party, they seem to be the same entity although the latter is more important to the president - they take!

Whether its positions of influence, a R250 million house and a R4 billion jet or innocuous tender kickback in some bark of beyond municipality – they take!

What shocks me most it’s when a government or municipal official is being suspended at work due to corruption, maladministration or even misallocation of funds and later you hear that, they same person who was suspended in East London has been appointed by the same government in another province in a senior position than the one she was holding in the Eastern Cape. Are we taken for fools in such a way that we can’t notice that?

We have a public protector in South Africa, a lady that was accused of being a spy because she is standing by the truth, not biased, not influenced by political interventions or even by threats, she speaks the truth that does not taste good in the governing party. Her office is in financial crisis because our government is trimming the budget of her office, why are they doing that? The answer is simple, the take away anything that will expose them, in this case, the take away the power from the public protector’s office because we all know there is no institution that runs without funds.

This sabotage to Madonsela’s office will mean one thing, failure, of which if her office fails to deliver, they will be the first to suggest that there is no need for her office, it’s just a waste on taxpayer’s money.
In my opinion they have started, by undermining her findings by using a word “recommendations” every time they are put on the spotlight.

In some quarters they are seen as creating a predator share, based on kleptocracy by undermining our intelligence. This is a mouthful which would tongue tie a certain gentleman.
They see us as dumb as they are – you only have to listen when they explain away their excesses, they say people get the government they deserve.

We brought this on ourselves – the selfish take!  – Now they are gunning for presidency again, a woman president.

Free education vs R4 billion presidential jet

After Armscor had announced an acquisition process that could make the president fly in luxury in a larger, flashier and expensive plane than the one he uses now, South African citizens (taxpayers) started to grumble and many questions are being raised in every corner of SA about this request that will cause the country to loose an amount of R4 billion on one jet.

Private bedroom suite, bathroom and a boardroom, these are some of the things that are needed in this jet at tax payer’s costs. Are these requirements necessary? Well nobody has come forward to explain to the people, that why are these requirements necessary for the presidential jet.
Is this going to be another saga like the Arms deal saga, that is still an unsolved controversial issue and still not yet clear to the taxpayers,  who benefited from that deal or was that deal necessary in the first place?
Is this going to be another “Nkandla” saga that is still haunting the president today? Well, seemingly there is a resemblance in these three cases and the biggest question is, are the people of South Africa happy about this and where is it going to take the country to?

Recently there was a big pandemonium in the country when the universities were shut down because of the student’s revolt, when students were demanding free education from the government that was promised to them by the current regime. This hope was given to the people in 1994 by the ruling party (ANC) in their manifesto that there will be free education in SA and after 21 years of the country’s democracy there is still no “free education” in SA instead there was a rise in school fees and that resulted in #feesmustfall.
The government is still trying to make means to generate or find the money for the education of the South African youth, who are the future of the country and the government hasn’t found the money yet.
The question is, whether the government is going to be able to buy the R4 billion jet for the president or fund the education of the South African children or both?
